WatchMyDC can be thought of as a platform. In most cases, the component actively involved is the Collector installed in your data center and the servers providing your WatchMyDC service.
In the standard state, the Collector uses protocols such as SNMP, WMI, and Syslog from your systems to collect data from your monitored hosts, encrypt the data, and transmit it through an outgoing SSL connection to your WatchMyDC service -
Where there are strict controls on outgoing HTTPS connections, you can configure the Collector to work through a proxy at your location to reach the WatchMyDC service.
Collector Bandwidth Usage
WatchMyDC is designed to be efficient with your bandwidth. While the exact amount of bandwidth used depends on the kinds of resources being monitored (a storage array with thousands of volumes has more data to report than a temperature probe, for example), data from our active customer base will soon be published below.
